Helpful Tips for Parents and Guardians
Once your child has received their first letter from Mailbox Friend, the FUN begins!
Below are tips and suggestions on how to help your child with next steps.
Step 1
As needed, please help your child with opening their letter and reading it with them.
Step 2
Encourage your child to write a letter back to Mailbox Friend by providing paper, pencils, crayons, an envelope, etc.
Step 3
If your child can already write — great! This is a wonderful opportunity for them to practice their penmanship. As needed, remind them to focus on writing each letter as best they can. For reference, they can refer to the alphabet letters on this page.
If your child can’t write yet, that’s completely alright! Have them draw a picture as drawing is so good for children to communicate feelings, ideas and their dreams. Encourage them to fill up the page!
Step 4
Once their letter or drawing is ready to be mailed, please help your child address the envelope to:
Mailbox Friend
PO Box 841
Franklin, TN 37065
Step 5
Help your child include their return address on the envelope, plus add a stamp for postage.
Step 6
An exciting part is helping your child put their letter inside their own mailbox and put their mailbox flag up (if you have one). Or another option is to go to your local Post Office and have your child drop their letter into a blue office US Mailbox, or official mail slot.
